Patrick Vlačič finished the Faculty of Law of University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1995, masters, at Faculty of Law of University of Split (Croatia) in 2001 and PhD again at Faculty of Law in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 2005. He worked at the Supreme Court as a judicial trainee and passed the bar exam in 2008. From then to present he is a professor at the Faculty for Maritime Studies and Transport of University of Ljubljana. He was also director of the small international airport Aerodrom Portorož d.o.o.. Between 2008 and 2012 he was a Minister of Transport in the 9th Government of the Republic of Slovenia. Now he is assistant professor, and he lectures maritime law, commercial law, air law, transport law and insurance law. He is also practising law, especially in the area of transport and insurance. His focus in present time is on digital transformation of maritime transport, especially the digitalization of bill of lading. He is author or coauthor of seven books and many articles. He has been a legal advisor at CargoX since April 2018.
