Rio Brasil Terminal (RBT), one of South America's largest and most strategic terminals, has operated at the Rio de Janeiro Port since 1998. In 2019, the Filipino group ICTSI (International Container Terminal Services, Inc.) took over operations, blending tradition with innovation.
The Rio de Janeiro Port history dates back to 1870, but it officially opened in 1910. Since then, the port has evolved into a modern and competitive facility. Strategically located, Rio Brasil Terminal offers excellent maritime, road, and rail connections, linking Brazil's key oil, gas, import, and export hubs.
Our company has invested over 500 million reais in infrastructure, equipment, and advanced logistics systems, boosting its operational capacity by 70%. The terminal now handles the largest vessels on the Brazilian coast. Its concession has been extended until 2048, solidifying its presence in the sector. With an annual capacity of 380,000 TEUs, RBT expects to handle 302,000 TEUs in 2024. Imports from Asia make up 72% of operations, with key sectors including consumer goods, machinery, and chemicals.
Always committed to social responsibility and environmental preservation, supporting community projects like “Favela Mundo” and “Arte Gerando Renda.” It was the first port company on South America’s East Coast to be certified "Carbon Neutral" and received the Brazilian GHG Protocol Gold Seal for transparency in emissions reporting. Also offsets 100% of its carbon emissions and has planted 15,000 Atlantic Forest trees to restore ecosystems, compensating over 2,300 tons of CO2 emissions.
The ICTSI Group aims to reduce emissions by 26% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, aligned with Brazil’s Global Compact goals and the UN climate agenda.
