Dr. Mark Procter is the Vice President of Science and Technology for Rapiscan’s Cargo and Vehicle Inspection business unit. Mark has an MBA and Ph.D. in Experimental Nuclear Physics, both from Manchester University in the United Kingdom, and spends his time applying the techniques and skills learned in academia to advance the development of X-ray imaging technologies in the security industry.
Overseeing a globally diverse team of Physicists, Data Scientists and Experimental Technicians, Mark has aided in the delivery of multiple new, patented technologies into the Rapiscan product portfolio, expanding existing markets and creating new markets to support the growth of the company, and cementing Rapiscan as an industry leader in cargo and vehicle inspection. Mark has published several articles in leading academic journals and is responsible for a number of industry-critical patents. Mark’s Science and Technology Team develops X-ray imaging hardware solutions, image analysis tools, and automated AI inspection tools to maximize the detection capabilities of low- and high-energy X-ray and passive radiation detection platforms within the Rapiscan portfolio.
